Keith Holland & Associates are urging local residents not to lose sight of the benefits of having regular eye examinations in the wake of an independent report that claims more than one in three of us haven’t had an eye examination for five years or more and that the fear of cost is deterring people from making an appointment to see their optometrist.
Despite 66% of Gloucestershire residents confessing to suffer from regular headaches and 31% complaining of sore or irritated eyes, over a third of residents are waiting to afford a pair of spectacles before booking an appointment for an eye examination.
Recent research produced by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) has claimed that one third of adults in the UK have not had an eye test in the last 2 years - an alarming point when we know that over 50% of sight loss is avoidable through early detection of vision conditions.
At Keith Holland & Associates we recommend that adults should have their eyes tested at least every 2 years, every year for children and adults above 60 - unless otherwise advised by your optician. We do send out reminders when you are due for your next eye test and it is important to keep eye examinations up to date to continue your high standard of eye care.
